Can't say enough good things about John Johnston and IronClad Martial Arts Center and Power Up Kickboxing. If you're considering karate for your children, this is the place to go. He is firm, yet encouraging and he has a natural ability to instill pride and respect in his students. I've already seen positive changes in my children that extend way beyond the physical skills they are learning.

I started taking the power up kickboxing class shortly after they opened last year and I love it. I tend to take evening classes and when I started Kru John taught all of those classes and he was tuff but in a great way since myself and many others kept coming back for more. Nowadays Kru teaches just the morning kickboxing classes and has gotten an unbelievable team of instructors to teach his evening classes and when I say unbelievable I truly mean that because I was hesitant of the change or should I say not happy about it. In this past year I have personally met some of the greatest and supportive people. We completed The Rugged Maniac a 5k obstacle course this past September as a team (Ironclad Angels) and that team consisted of kickboxers, trainers and even a few of the martial art students. Ironclad is like a family and I would recommend anyone in any fitness level to stop in and try a couple classes because you will love it.

I don’t have any martial arts experience. Can I take Krav Maga?

Yes, you don’t need experience to take Krav Maga classes. There are levels of Krav Maga just as there are in any martial arts discipline, so you’ll start at the bottom and work your way up.

Is there a belt system in Krav Maga?

Yes, there are six levels: Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Brown and Black. You’ll have to test at each level before advancing to the next.
